Bochord
Indulge in an unforgettable blend of delicacies, retro ambience, live music, and celebrations at Bochord. The new European restaurant in Causeway Bay is conceptualised as a ‘library’ or ‘book collection’ from ancient English etymology. Nikutoieba Matsuda
Nikutoieba Matsuda is a Japanese restaurant specialising in wagyu kappo cuisine. The Hong Kong outpost is the restaurant’s first international venue and continues to provide a wagyu-centric dining experience. The Japanese location is notorious for being difficult to reserve in the Kansai Area. After all, Nikutoeiba Matsuda is listed in the Michelin Guide in 2022 and 2023. Aunty Malay is the latest restaurant offering exquisite and authentically Malaysian dishes. Dara
Modern Filipino restaurant, Dara reopens after moving to a new (larger) location in Sai Ying Pun. The restaurant introduces Hongkongers to the food of the Philippines’ culinary capital, Pampanga. Its name means ‘aunt’ in Kapampangan, the local language of the entire province of Pampanga. The family-run establishment started off in the catering business, led by Imelda Bunoan (or Auntie Mel), the restaurant’s executive chef and founder. Today, the restaurant still serves beloved Filipino dishes like sinigang (sour soup), sisig (chopped pork and chicken rivers), and more. Auntie Mel is now working with head chef, Ginno Castro who has vast experience in Filipino and Kampampangan cuisine. Dara also has a dedicated drinks menu, which of course, has Filipino-inspired cocktails. Its new space has a dedicated whiskey bar area and is larger in size, with contemporary designs that harken to classic Philippine colonial architecture and aesthetics. Fall in Thai
Fall in Thai, a popular restaurant in Shanghai, opens its first branch in Hong Kong. The restaurant is known for its Thai broths taken from house recipes. Gu Liang Ca is ready to satisfy Hongkongers with high-quality yet reasonably-priced Chiu Chow. This new 45-seat eatery in Wan Chai injects a dynamic dose of modern Mexican living into the city’s dining scene. El Taquero takes its name from the Spanish description for “the taco vendor” so expect the eye-catching interiors to pay homage to modern taqueros eateries across Mexico City. Barkada
This is the newest addition to Hong Kong’s growing number of Filipino restaurants. Barkada, which means a group of close friends in Tagalog, is helmed by food influencer and cookbook author Jen Balisi of Indulgent Eats. Championing bold flavours through contemporary Filipino cuisine, the menu celebrates the savoury, sour, sweet, and spicy palette that characterises the Philippines. Diners can expect modern takes on the classics such as the Adobo Popcorn Chicken and Brown Butter Pancit Canton. With roots in Tokyo, Kushitei marks the kushiage eatery’s first outpost in Hong Kong. The omakase-style restaurant offers the well-loved exponents of deep-fried, skewered-led cuisine.
