Review of Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi Airport: 

Although one might consider Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi Airport a business hotel, the property is far from it. As soon as I walk in on a cosy autumn afternoon, their bustling lobby grabs my attention. And not just because of the hustle and bustle, but for its unusual spherical shape. Radisson’s warm hospitality begins as soon as I enter. Smiles greet me every step of the way and I’m quickly shown to my suite on the first floor, where the rest of my check-in formalities are completed in the confines of the living area. I rejoice at the fact that my room overlooks the pool and is spacious enough for me to somersault. What stands out me to me personally, other than the luxury of space, is how the room has character and immediately makes me feel at home. There is a designated space for everything—a dedicated corner for a quick business meeting; the living area to spend a relaxed afternoon; an en-suite bathtub to unwind after a long day; and a cosy bed for a restful sleep. I make use of the work corner for a quick bit and then head to NYC, where a feast awaits me.

NYC is located on the ground floor, right next to R – The Lounge, and is brimming with guests. I’m told that the restaurant is a popular choice amongst residents as well as non-residents. And it’s not hard to contemplate why. There is a well-rounded buffet that boasts an extravagant menu. The setup boasts delicacies from the home country as well as international offerings. While the ‘Delhi’ in me pulls me to the live chaat counter, the globetrotter traits take me to the live pasta counter. And finally, the dessert counter satiates all sweet tooth cravings with a wide selection. I fight the urge for an afternoon siesta and go around exploring the property. 

There is plenty to do at the property. For starters, there is R – The Lounge for a chatty catch-up; for those who prefer solitude, there is the colonial-styled Savannah bar that boasts rare whiskeys, daring concoctions, and exquisite wines and champagne. As for business travellers and those exploring a staycation in the city, the pool is the best place to unwind followed by a hearty meal at any one of the in-house restaurants.

As the evening sets in, a rejuvenating and relaxing spa session awaits me at R the Spa. I hop on to the private elevator on my floor that brings me directly to the spa. Spread over an area of 20,000 square feet and three levels, the spa is managed in-house to keep a check on the quality of services and treatments. Post a quick discussion of my problem areas, I head to the treatment room, where the temperature, lighting, massaging oil, and pressure are adjusted to my liking. I wake up feeling refreshed an hour later and hop in for quick steam and sauna to finish the process.

And in no time, I find myself dinner ready for a lavish meal at the legendary The Great Kebab Factory. Situated on the ground floor, the restaurant is synonymous with a quintessential Indian meal. As I grab a seat, right in front of the live singers’ station, my server takes me through the menu for the evening. I make a quick selection from the appetisers—Tandoori Panner Tikka, Subz Galaouti, and Soya Taka Tak. For the mains, there are a variety of options—Dal Factory, Dal Fry, Panner Lababdaar, Mutter Mushroom, Dhaba Murgh, and Gosht Rassila, along with a choice of Gosht Dum Biryani and Subz Awadhi Biryani. I settle for a humble Dal Fry and a Lachha Parantha and I end the evening and my stay on a sweet note with Tinka Kulfi.

There is the award-winning restaurant Soy X Neung Roi that serves critically acclaimed Thai dishes; The Great Kebab Factory offers delectable Indian cuisine with specialty kebabs; and NYC offers a more relaxed setup with a delectable fare. While The Pastry Shop is known for its baked goodies and coffee, it is at R – The Lounge where one can enjoy leisurely bites and desserts. As the sun sets, Savannah Bar and The Orb pick up pace and serve as a casual hangout spot.
