Excerpts from the interview with Vasim Shaikh, Founder and CEO of The Q Experiences
T+L India: What inspired you to start The Q Experiences?
Vasim Shaikh: The inspiration stemmed from a passion for creating unique luxury travel experiences. We, at The Q, believe travel is not just about seeing new places, it’s about living an experience that will make for a great story. We aim to offer discerning travellers once-in-a- lifetime experiences.
T+L India: What are some experiences at The Q that promote transformative travel?
Vasim Shaikh: We pride ourselves on being pioneers in promoting transformative travel. We are the only organisation in India to have successfully undertaken groups to the Arctic and Antarctica and are always striving to craft exceptional experiences. Be it savouring Michelin- starred culinary delights in Antarctica, venturing into remote tundra regions to witness the breathtaking polar bear migration, indulging in a supercar adventure along Europe’s uncharted wine routes, or traversing the North Pole, we aim to provide travellers with moments that become cherished memories.
T+L India: What are the current travel trends?
Vasim Shaikh: The industry is increasingly focussing on experiential travel. We believe meeting people from diverse cultures, discovering unique destinations, and relishing diverse cuisines are deeply enriching experiences. Indian travellers love to be pampered and after the pandemic, they are looking for rich and meaningful experiences.
T+L India: Sustainability and responsible tourism are increasingly gaining importance. How does The Q integrate these principles into its offerings?
Vasim Shaikh: Our approach involves curating experiences that not only provide luxury and wellness but also respect the environment and local communities. We ensure that our journeys leave a positive legacy and minimise environmental impact.
