An esteemed member of this unique panel is Imtiaz Ali, whose films have instilled the spirit of wanderlust in Indians.
Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s tryst with travel goes back to his early train journeys from his home town Jamshedpur. The destination didn’t matter to him then, and it barely does now. It’s no wonder then that many of his biggest hits inspire the audience to look at travel with a new perspective—from his directorial debut Socha Na Tha (2005) to the critically acclaimed Highway (2014) and the Croatia-set Tamasha (2015). A spontaneous traveller, Ali goes looking for culture, cuisine, and music in the nooks and crannies of every new destination. “Expect me to land in Paris and not see the Eiffel Tower.” Even though he has lost count of the number of countries he’s explored, he feels no amount of travel is ever going to be enough. “And that’s the most daunting feeling I have about the world.”
“I’m very excited about my upcoming Antarctica trip. I’m expecting to know the world much better after seeing its farthest outpost.”
