Time and again, India has been named the world’s diabetes capital. In India, there are an estimated 77 million people above the age of 18 years who are suffering from Type 2 Diabetes and nearly 25 million are prediabetics (at a higher risk of developing diabetes in near future)!

Diagnosing Diabetes

Atmantan

Type 1 Diabetes is an auto-immune condition where the pancreas produces little to no insulin. Often, these are genetically inclined but could be triggered due to external factors as well.

Celebrities across the world are testament to this fact. Take American singer, songwriter and actor Nick Jonas, for instance. Taking to social media to raise awareness of the disease, the entertainer has been vocal about being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 13.

The sweet news, though, is that Type 2 Diabetes is manageable — and — in some cases — reversible, too. Type 2 is when the way the body uses and processes blood sugar is affected by one’s lifestyle.

“Diabetes can have early warning symptoms that are usually ignored. Increase in thirst and frequent urination are typical signs that the body is trying to get rid of extra glucose. When the body is unable to use sugar for fuel, it might result in unexplained weight loss even with regular or excess eating. When it is associated with Insulin resistance, one can also see an unexplained weight gain. Other early warning indicators include fatigue, impaired vision, and slow-healing wounds. Diabetics can also experience persistent infections, tingling or numbness in the hands or feet.” explains Dr. Manoj Kutteri, CEO & Medical Director, Atmantan Wellness Centre.

Stories of Success

Now aged 31, Jonas, suffering from the genetically-inclined Type 1 Diabetes, has publicly admitted to being more mindful about his diet and fitness, which includes monitoring his sugar levels regularly. Like him, actors including Sonam A Kapoor, Kamal Haasan, Samantha Prabhu and Sudha Chandran are also successfully thriving with Type 1 Diabetes. Other actors such as Tom Hanks, Larry King, Drew Carey, Delta Burke and Gaurav Kapur, have also found ways to control their chronic Type 2 ailments despite leading strenuous lifestyles.

These success stories, however, are just not reserved for those on the upper rungs of the social and economic ladders. While Type 1 diabetes centres around prevention and treatments, Type 2 can be reversed under proper guidance and support. Atmantan, a result-oriented integrated wellness centre in Pune, offers personalised doctor-guided programmes to help individuals create a lifestyle overhaul and achieve their wellness goals. The case study of a 62-year-old guest being able to reverse his Type 2 Diabetes at the wellness centre is a testament to this.

“When I checked into Atmantan, they connected me to the diabetic risk profiler. I was told that I am in the moderate risk category,” tells the patient. His creatinine and triglycerides were on the higher side, leading to calcification in blood vessels that resulted in high pressures, too. Further diagnoses revealed that he was at a risk of developing kidney stones as well. But within 30 days of leading the Atmantan Way of Life, the man successfully reversed his six-year-old Type 2 Diabetes.

Reversing Diabetes with Atmantan

Seeing integrated wellness as the means to treat (or reverse, in the case of Type 2) Diabetes, Atmantan addresses underlying factors that contribute to the condition. While personalised programmes are the core of any treatment here, they all begin with proper diagnostics to chart the plan of action. This includes analysing lifestyles, blood work, arterial health, vascular ageing, and more to pinpoint any deviations or corrections. Tailored programmes follow suit.

Diet and Nutrition

Healthy Eating

Noting that most diseases kickstart in the gut, the doctors at Atmantan craft a personalised nutrition plan for the duration of the stay. The low carb high-fat plan is grain-free, sugar-free, and anti-inflammatory. Instead, unprocessed foods with healing fats are recommended. The doctors also address nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, overuse of medications and changes in hormones with the right food.

Physical Activity

Atmantan

Diets need to be backed by regular physical activity to achieve a healthy weight. This, backed by boosting blood sugar metabolism, is the ideal long-term strategy to keep blood glucose levels in check. The wellness centre offers a combination of core conditioning, Theraband exercises for muscle toning, therapeutic yoga, aqua and aerobic exercises, muscle strengthening and more to assist and kickstart the body’s natural healing and optimal hormonal mechanism.

Stress Management

Diabetes

Diabetic disorders can escalate with inflammations and hormonal imbalances — a direct result of stress mismanagement. The Atmantan Way of Life incorporates stress reduction techniques such as therapeutic yoga, meditation, deep breathing exercises, and mindfulness practices.

Adequate Sleep

Atmantan

Sleep deprivation directly increases inflammation, in turn heightening the risk of diabetes. Lack of sleep can also negatively affect hormonal balance and glucose metabolism. The doctors at the welness centre guide patients towards appropriate sleep hygiene habits that can improve sleep parameters in the long run for sufficient restorative healing.

Education and Support

Understanding any medical condition and knowing how to manage, control or even reverse it independently is crucial for sustaining good health. Doctors at Atmantan routinely share information on the patient’s condition, guiding one to make informed lifestyle modifications even beyond the stay. They also have established a comprehensive Atmantan Aftercare programme wherein the team offers continuous support to the guests even after they have checked out.

Mind and Body Practices

Ayurveda

The integrated mind-body approach at Atmantan includes practices of gastro packs and therapies, cupping, energy healing, pranayama, mediation, and counselling to improve and reduce inflammation and hormonal imbalances.

Herbal and Natural Remedies

Certain herbal supplements and nutraceuticals, such as Dia-solve, Omega-3 fatty acids, Ivy Gourd, Indian Barberry, and Pterocarpus Marsupium are known to have positive effects on metabolising blood sugars. The trained doctors of Atmantan also possess knowledge of integrative medicine to prescribe natural formations.

This Stunning Māori-Owned New Zealand Spa Uses Centuries-Old Traditionshttps://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/trips/wellness-spas/this-maori-owned-new-zealand-spa-uses-centuries-old-traditions/2023-10-31T08:30:01+00:00https://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/?p=229972spa in New Zealand

There’s something in the water in Rotorua. The North Island town in New Zealand, which surrounds Lake Rotorua, is known for its geothermal activities. In fact, for centuries, people have been flocking to the thermal spring, which is believed to have healing properties.

Now, there’s an even more meaningful way to experience its power at the new Wai Akiri Hot Springs and Spa.

Opened in June 2023, the property is owned and run by the Māori iwa of Ngāti Whakaue, part of the Te Arawa Confederation. (The Māori are the indigenous people of New Zealand.) It has mindfully infused its longtime traditions and beliefs into the spa offerings.

“Ngāti Whakaue have long recognised the therapeutic benefits of bathing in the geothermal waters and have developed their own distinct spa and bathing culture that despite being unique in world terms, is largely unrecognised,” Arvid Ditchburn, the spa’s acting general manager told Travel + Leisure, emphasising that Wai Ariki is the island nation’s “first purpose-built” spa with a “strong infusion of our own bathing culture,” making it the only one owned by mana whenua (holders of customary rights and responsibilities over land).

Here, guests are invited to take part in the Wai Whakaora restorative journey, which starts with a blessing at a mauri (life force) stone before heading to the Te Iringa, a “waterfall shower to cleanse the body and soul” and serve as a “symbolic connection to the waterfalls of the ancestral lands of the Ngāti Whakaue people.”

Other highlights include the Te Ahi Tupua Tongariro (fire and ice caves), which Ditchburn said was inspired by the story of Ngātoroirangi that brought geothermal energy to the region. It immerses guests in an alternating hot-and-cold, wet-and-dry experience since “in Māori wellbeing practice, it is understood that moving between extreme temperatures improved vigour and stamina.”

There’s also Tirotiro Whetū — a stargazing pool with views of the Ngāti Whakaue mountain of Ngongotahā, and Kōpūa, the star that guided the Te Arawa to Aotearoa New Zealand — as well as a te pae paru (geothermal mud lounge) that uses the natural properties of mud both to “rejuvenate the skin and connect with the land, as Ngāti Whakaue has done for centuries,” he said, noting its warriors used mud paste to heal scars and wounds.

Additionally, there’s The Sanctuary space, which offers spa treatments, like a mirimiri (massage), using natural actives, essential oils, botanical extracts, and herbal preparations that are founded on centuries-old healing practices.

Beyond the services, the setting itself is also a mesmerising element, inspired by Ngāti Whakaue narratives including local whakairo (Māori carvings) and rooted in the area’s volcanic colour palette. “Additionally, the roof line announces that people are about to embark on a journey to wellness,” Ditchburn said of the inspiration drawn from a Te Arawa canoe. “The building is truly a thing of beauty,” he added, calling the structure “both a visual and sensory experience.”

A restorative journey starts at NZD 110 (INR 5,337), while a combo of the Mirimiri Wai Ariki massage plus Ahuru Mowai sanctuary bathing starts at NZD 245 (INR 11,887).

“A visit to Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa is an experience like no other,” Ditchburn said. “Visitors will experience a unique healing and relaxation journey, with every perfectly designed element contributing to a total well-being experience — the essence of which is a connection to the Ngāti Whakaue people, and the places and practices that have defined them through the centuries.”

A Journey Of Self-Reflection At Amankora Paro, Bhutanhttps://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/trips/a-journey-of-self-reflection-at-amankora-paro-bhutan/2023-10-31T05:35:47+00:00https://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/?p=229747Amankora, Paro

Amankora Paro is the embodiment of Bhutan’s spiritual and wellness essence, discovers Travel+Leisure India & South Asia on a trip to the Himalayan kingdom.

Stepping off the plane at Paro Airport, I was once again struck by the beauty of Bhutan. The majestic Himalayan mountains formed a breathtaking backdrop to the runway, and the airport, designed in traditional Bhutanese style, provided a warm and fitting welcome. Needless to say, it set the mood for the rest of my journey, which was to be further enriched by a stay at Amankora Paro, a luxury retreat that embodies the serene charm of Bhutan. We made a quick pit stop in the town of Paro, characterised by colourful buildings, quaint shops, and locals dressed in gho and kira, the traditional attire of the country. In no time, I was making my way to the stores to shop for kira, and other souvenirs.

Rekindle your soul at Amankora, Paro

The air was crisp, filled with the scent of pine, when we alighted at Amankora Paro. Tucked in a dense forest, Amankora Paro boasts 24 secluded suites, each carefully designed to blend rustic charm with modern aesthetics. During my stay, a particularly gentle murmur of a brook that flows around the lodge also caught my attention.

The suites at the property blend rustic charm with modern aesthetics.

Amankora is not just a single destination but an experience that spans across Bhutan. The Amankora Bhutan collection includes five lodges strategically located in the valleys of Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey, and Bumthang, and boasts the signature Aman hospitality.I began my exploration of Bhutan with Amankora’s senior guide, Nawang. Our first stop was the National Museum of Bhutan, which once served as a watchtower. Established in 1968, the museum is a testament to Bhutanese history, art, and culture. Next, we headed to Rinpung Dzong, also known as Paro Dzong. This 11th-century architectural marvel serves a dual purpose as a monastery and fortress of the Drukpa Lineage. To taste the flavours of Bhutan, we visited a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse, where we were treated to a sumptuous feast of local dishes like ema datshi (a dish made from hot chilli peppers and cheese), red rice, buckwheat noodles, pumpkin soup, mix cabbage, and beef in Bhutanese style. I washed down these with ara, a traditional Bhutanese drink.

Beyond The Resort

Our next destination was Kyichu Lhakhang Temple, a 7th-century Buddhist temple that holds immense spiritual significance. The temple visit led to a few moments of quiet reflection. Back at the hotel, an elderly local from a neighbouring village guided us in making our own prayer flags. As I witnessed the images of Green, Yellow, and White Tara—the female counterparts to bodhisattvas, come to life, I couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to Bhutan’s profound spiritual legacy.

An intimate meal setup at Drugyel Dzong Viewpoint.

During my previous visit to Bhutan, I regretted not having the opportunity to explore the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Therefore, on this trip, I was determined to trek to the famous Buddhist site, also known as Paro Taktsang. We set out early in the morning; when I first laid eyes on the monastery, perched dramatically on the edge of a cliff, from our starting point, my excitement soared. The ascent to the initial point posed a daunting challenge, and I would have given up if our guide Nawang and my fellow trekkers hadn’t become my cheerleaders.

The final ascent to the monastery felt easy. The view of the monastery and its surroundings from the top, the prayers that I silently offered, and an enlightening conversation with a senior monk will remain etched in my memory forever. Back at Aman Spa Paro, a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath awaited—a fitting way to soothe the muscles and reflect on the day’s adventures. In this therapeutic practice, one immerses in a wooden tub filled with heated river stones infused with aromatic herbs. Later, Amankora Paro treated us to a unique dining experience under the star-studded Bhutan sky.

The Firepit Terrace boasts sprawling views of Drukgyel Dzong and Jomolhari Mountain.

When it was time to bid farewell to the ‘land of the thunder dragon’, a monk at Amankora Paro performed a little puja and bestowed his blessings for a harmonious departure and wished for a safe and prosperous journey ahead. It was a poignant moment that perfectly summarised the spiritual essence of Bhutan.

Desert Bathing Is The Key To Total Relaxation & This Arizona Hotel Will Show You How To Do Ithttps://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/trips/wellness-spas/desert-bathing-in-arizona/2023-09-16T10:30:02+00:00https://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/?p=218407Desert bathing

Scottsdale, Arizona, has become nearly synonymous with bachelorette parties and balloons, pools packed with inflatables, and Instagram photos featuring sunsets and saguaro cacti. Its dry heat, thriving restaurant and bar scene, and vast assortment of outdoor activities — from day clubs to country clubs — are magnets for group trips and carefully planned itineraries.

If the aforementioned features don’t equate to your ideal adventure, you may have steered clear of Scottsdale in the past. However, a quick 30-minute drive north will have you rethinking that idea.

Desert bathing is the key to complete relaxation at this resort in Arizona

Desert bathing
Image Credit: Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North

Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North is a far cry from the bustling nightlife of Old Town Scottsdale. The property’s focus on nature, wellness, and its food and beverage program landed it on Travel + Leisure’s list of best Arizona resorts for luxury travellers, and it’s grounded in its desire to create a tranquil atmosphere for guests, starting from the moment they pull under the portico.

[inline_related_article article_id="212014,216336"]

While many hotels strictly rely on their interiors and amenities to create an experience, the Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North’s exact brand of calmness stems, in part, from its location. Built in the foothills of Pinnacle Peak, the 210 guest rooms, bi-level pool, and various common spaces are merely foils — albeit beautiful ones — to the main character: 40 acres of the Sonoran Desert. “The property’s natural desert setting is inherently calming,” says Jaana Roth, the resort’s senior spa director.

The resort offers a number of immersive outdoor activities to ensure travellers take in the full breadth of the desert and its magic. In 2022, “desert bathing” was added on a rotating basis as part of the weekly fitness and wellness programming. Similar to forest bathing, desert bathing is “designed to help participants unplug from technology and slow down,” says Roth. Led by a wellness instructor, it begins with a moment of intention setting and a mindfulness exercise. What follows is best described as a meditative hike — where stopping, deep breathing, and simply taking a moment to soak in the setting are encouraged.

“The key to desert bathing is to use all five senses,” she explains. “Listen to the birds, notice the different varieties of cacti and native plants, smell the rich scent of creosote bushes and desert sage, taste the freshness of the air, and feel the desert sand beneath you.”

Image Credit: Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North

At first, desert bathing appears to be a straightforward concept — even with additional yoga poses incorporated along the way. But there’s another level to it. Desert bathing encourages a “deeper connection to place and the natural desert beauty,” says Roth, one that benefits our physical health and mental wellness. According to Roth, guests should feel a boost of energy, experience a better night’s sleep, and achieve a “more relaxed state of mind” after a hike. From a scientific perspective, many studies have demonstrated the benefits of simply being outside.

According to one 2018 study, natural environments lead to lower stress levels. Another study published in the same year credits greenspaces — and yes, the Sonoran Desert features a variety of green plants — with a reduction in diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, and salivary cortisol, as well as the incidence of type II diabetes and stroke. When viewed with a more qualitative lens, desert bathing is the perfect time to leave your phone in your room (you can take photos later) and force yourself to focus on the present. For those who have never tried — or succeeded with — meditation, desert bathing can be used as a gateway to other mindfulness practices.

[myaffiliate type="normal" button_name="Shop the best travel experiences here " url="https://experiences.travelandleisureasia.com/" align="center" class="affiliate-one"]
Desert bathing
Image Credit: Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North

Desert bathing isn’t the only way Roth’s team incorporates the desert into its offerings, though. Inside the spa, guests can enjoy the Nopal Massage or the Prickly Pear Renewal treatment. In the former, warm cactus gel is applied to the skin using cactus paddles. Also known as the prickly pear cactus, the nopal cactus has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties — both of which can be useful for anyone who frequently travels or is in need of a reset. The Prickly Pear Renewal treatment follows the same idea, but it uses a prickly pear body polish to exfoliate before the massage.

Whether you choose to desert bathe, relax in the spa, or hide from the sun in one of the resort’s pool cabanas, there’s a high chance you’ll be able to, as Roth puts it, “hit the pause button” at the Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North. Just don’t forget to pack hiking boots, sunscreen, and some UPF apparel.

This Famed California Wellness Retreat Recently Opened In Italy: Here's What It's Like To Stayhttps://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/trips/wellness-spas/this-famed-california-wellness-retreat-recently-opened-in-italy/2023-08-18T10:30:24+00:00https://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/?p=216336California wellness retreat

Despite a reputation for decadence, Italy has a centuries-old wellness culture, thanks to the hiking traditions of the Dolomites and the profusion of hot springs in Tuscany. Cleanses, intermittent fasting, and kale? Not so much. But new offerings from some of the country’s best hotels have encouraged even diehard pasta-and-red-wine fanatics to get with the program.

The poster child for this shift is Palazzo Fiuggi, an hour south of Rome. The property’s namesake town is locally renowned for its thermal baths and mineral-rich drinking water; since the Middle Ages, it has been a magnet for health seekers — including, according to legend, Michelangelo. The palazzo itself is a more recent development, originally built in 1910.

It opened in its current iteration in 2021 after a renovation added all the trappings of a wellness wonderland: the 64,500-square-foot spa has both thalassotherapy and Turkish baths, as well as whirlpools, saunas, three swimming pools (both indoor and outdoor), and yoga and Pilates studios.

Palazzo Fiuggi has an array of spa programs, but what caught my eye was a seven-day intensive in partnership with the Ranch, the famed Malibu, California, health centre known for its hard-core approach. Though most guests arrive for some Tuscan R&R, my week included four-hour hikes — not to mention calorie restrictions — that pushed me to my physical limits, in a good way. And the work was tempered by spectacular views of the Apennine Mountains, as well as delightful curiosities like crossing an ancient Roman bridge and running into a truffle hunter on the job.

While meals were light, they nevertheless included Ranch-ified versions of Italian classics, including vegan parmigiana and brodo (bone broth). We had regular restorative massages and yoga classes, as well as consultations with the on-site medical team to monitor progress. For any decadence, we had to rely on the guest rooms — think restored frescoed ceilings, Murano glass chandeliers, and marble bathrooms.

But my favourite way to unwind was to lounge in a fluffy robe by the spa’s Roman-style thermal baths, swigging cups of Fiuggi’s famous salty-sweet mineral water. It was a reminder that even during a rigorously active schedule, the pleasures of Italy were never far away.

10 Best Public Hot Springs To Visit In Japanhttps://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/trips/wellness-spas/best-public-hot-springs-to-visit-in-japan/2023-08-07T08:30:18+00:00https://www.travelandleisureasia.com/in/?p=214093Hot springs in Japan

Wellness-oriented escapes are a major trend these days, but ancient Japanese bathing traditions are a way of life dating back thousands of years. The island country in East Asia is blessed with a wealth of geothermal hot springs that reportedly possess healing benefits — including promoting circulation, soothing sore muscles, and relaxing the mind.

Over the centuries, an entire ritualised bathing culture has sprung up (no pun intended) around onsens — a catchall term used to describe the naturally warmed, mineral-rich waters and the associated bathhouse facilities — and that means certain protocols, customs, and etiquette need to be observed by both locals and travellers.

If you’re planning to participate in this age-old pastime, it’s important to respect the enduring history and heritage. Soaking in public hot springs is very much a communal activity. Most onsen remain separated between males and females. Many still don’t accept guests with tattoos. Got ink? It’s definitely something to look into in advance or risk potentially being turned away. “Before entering an onsen, it’s customary to rinse off,” says Keiko Watanabe, the spa and wellness manager across the Hoshino Resorts portfolio. “After getting out, don’t forget to drink plenty of water and moisturise.”.

Scroll on for the best public hot springs in Japan, according to local experts.

The best public hot springs in Japan

Togura Kanze Onsen — Chikuma, Nagano Prefecture

“A popular pitstop for tourists heading to Zenkoji Temple in nearby Nagano, Togura Kanze Onsen brims with emerald green hot springs,” says Watanabe. The temperature isn’t too hot, which means you can enjoy a longer soak and reap all the relaxing rewards. “Sulfur also makes the skin supple, so after bathing you will emerge feeling supple and moisturised,” says Watanabe.

Tenzan — Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture

One of the most popular hot springs towns in Japan, Hakone has plenty of peaceful places to soak. Nature lovers will feel a deep connection to the Earth and a true sense of serenity after a few minutes at Tenzan, a collection of naturally heated outdoor rock pools framed by leafy trees. There’s also a bathhouse tucked inside a traditional building.

Hirauchi Kaichu Onsen — Yakushima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture

Located at the southern end of Yakushima Island and accessible only at low tide, Hirauchi Kaichu Onsen is an open-air, sulfuric hot spring in Japan that’s set along a rocky shoreline and gushes from below sea level. “The spectacular coastal setting makes it a particularly special and unique spot to soak,” says Simon Metcalfe, a manager at the Kyushu Tourism Promotion Organisation.

Yu-no-sato — Unzen, Nagasaki Prefecture

Yu-no-sato is a small public onsen in Unzen that’s regarded as the oldest communal bath in the area. In addition to the heritage, people come here for the healing benefits that come from the hot, acidic, iron-rich hot springs. Watanabe warns that the heat can be intense, so it’s important to practice kakeyu (using buckets full of water outside the tub) before fully immersing yourself and soaking for no more than five minutes at first.

Shitan-yu — Shichirida Onsen, Oita Prefecture

There’s a newly renovated area at Konoha-no-yu called Shitan-yu that’s said to be the most concentrated carbonated spring in all of Japan. The low temperature and bubbles enliven the body (it gradually warms you up), so it’s possible to relax and relish a long bath.

Onto — Nagato Yumoto Onsen, Yamaguchi Prefecture

An emblematic example of bringing rich hot springs traditions into the modern age, Onto shines as a beautiful, newly redesigned day-use facility that reopened in historic Nagato Yumoto Onsen just a few years ago. “The lukewarm water is alkaline and smoothes the skin as it removes impurities naturally,” says Watanabe.

Matusiro-sou — Matsushiro, Nagano Prefecture

What was once a secret healing spot for the army of the powerful daimyo Shingen Takeda, Matusiro-sou, located in the castle town of Sanada Jumangoku, is now one of the most well-known spa retreats in Japan. Concentrated iron deposits give the source-fed hot spring its golden colour and myriad beneficial properties, from fighting fatigue to boosting skin health.

Monju-no-yu — Kakeyu Onsen, Nagano Prefecture

The tradition of bathing at Monju-no-yu can be traced back 1,200 years. The hot water is especially great for the feet and lower back. “It’s quite refreshing to soak for about five minutes,” says Watanabe. “Just don’t stay in too long to avoid overheating.” There are several sacred sites in the surrounding area and it’s a lovely place to go for a stroll after visiting the hot spring.

Sahako-no-yu — Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture

Situated in a hot spring town with more than 1,000 years of history, Sahako-no-yu is a public bathhouse that dates back to the Edo period. “The high temperature of the water and sulfur provides many benefits, and there are famous cherry blossom areas to enjoy,” explains Watanabe. She suggests the act of kakeyu before entering, then dipping your feet and gradually making your way up to your chest.

Naminoyu ‘Akane’ — Unzen, Nagasaki Prefecture

Many people regard Naminoyu ‘Akane’ as the finest outdoor hot springs facility in Obama Onsen, a resort town on the eastern side of the Shimabara Peninsula. Besides the opportunity to unwind in some of the hottest spring waters, visitors can look forward to views of the Tachibana Gulf and magical sunsets.
